This Dyslexia Awareness Week we’re celebrating that we are all unique. The #DAW23 theme is #UniquelyYou.
1 in 10 people have dyslexia which means that appropriately 3.3 million adults in the UK workplace have dyslexia.
As a training provider we aim to support all candidates with different learning styles and have a commitment to embracing and supporting neurodiversity.
We consider several areas when candidates who are dyslexic attend our courses:
✅ Our team all have a positive and inclusive approach
✅ We make adjustments by taking longer to explain or changing our teaching styles
✅ We offer support and commitment by encouraging our candidates (and our employees) to disclose their challenges.
Kelly Wood attended our 10-day Excavator 360° course earlier this year but was nervous about attending due to her dyslexia and the written tests she would have to take.
Kelly commented on her training with us, “Due to my dyslexia I sometimes struggle to understand the questions, but the instructors helped me break down the question into parts and were so patient with me.”

Our commitment this week to is become a Dyslexia Friendly Workplace.
Just like the British Dyslexia Association we believe that everyone with dyslexia should be able to reach their full potential in life.
We will be applying for the Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark for the workplace which recognises and celebrate inclusive practices in the workplace.
